The Office of University Academic Policy (UAP) unit manages the academic portfolio of Indiana University (IU) convenes the Academic Leadership Council (ALC), chairs the Academic Leadership Council Technical Committee, serves as Academic Program Inventory representative to the Indiana Commission on Higher Education, and convenes relevant committees (E.g. Single GPA, Reverse Transfer, Repeat Rules, Faculty Remote Work, Open Education Resources, General Education Assessment, Liberal Studies Degree Establishment etc.)as deemed by the ALC. In these roles the AVP is charged with managing the internal and external Academic Approvals and contingent approvals (Online, Graduate School, International) processes as defined by the Program Matrix. UAP conducts program remonstrance, defines standard operating procedures for IU innovative program mix and approvals, oversees reciprocity agreements, represents academic matters with state and government relations, serves as IU’s HLC compliance officer, audits websites, archives letters, and reports annually on accreditation status, on-boards, train and troubleshoot with academic leaders and contingent approvals on IU’s academic processes.IU has one unit responsible for its academic programs across all seven campuses, three centers, and online.
